Beauty Therapists (also known as Beauticians) perform a range of different treatments to help improve their client’s appearance and general wellbeing. The services they provide are absolutely vital in helping people live happier, healthier lives.

So whether it’s applying cosmetics, giving facials or administering massages, no job is too small for when it comes to the world of beauty.

Typical duties for a Beauty Therapist could include:

Greeting clients
Administering treatments, such as facials, eyebrow shaping, tanning, manicures and pedicures
Performing hair removal, via electrolysis or waxing

"As cliché as it sounds, the best part of my job is the variety. I love being able to meet new people, and see how I can help them be more confident about their appearance. A typical day for me could include anything from a full-blown makeover, through to a pre-holiday tan or bikini wax. You definitely can’t be easily embarrassed if you want to be a Beauty Therapist. But aside from the initial awkwardness of seeing complete strangers most intimate areas, I get to help people walk out of my salon feeling better than when they came in. And that’s a great feeling."

Get qualified as a Beauty Therapist

To become a Beauty Therapist, you will generally need at least a level 2 or 3 Diploma in beauty therapy or accredited certification. However, many apprenticeships are offered which offer vocational training to help you earn while you learn, and there are many other certifications out there if you just wish to specialise in one area of the industry.
