Billing Coordinator

up to £36k

London (WC1X) with hybrid-working

An award-winning multidisciplinary law firm is seeking a dedicated and experienced Billing Coordinator, to join their team in London. Recognised as a top-tier firm by legal directories, they pride themselves on their exceptional track record and diverse range of specialist legal services. Their clients include medium-sized businesses, NGOs, public figures, and private individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend monthly billing meetings with fee earners to review WIP, file progress, and housekeeping tasks such as:
  • Assess fees received vs. targets with each fee earner.
  • Ensure prompt handling of tasks following billing meetings, including troubleshooting.
  • Draft and process payments on account for profit costs and disbursements on CCMS.
  • Post weekly bills following receipt of remittance from the LAA, accurately allocating costs.
  • Correspond with external cost draftsmen to ensure matter progression and keep fee earners updated.
  • Advise fee earners on arising queries.
  • Assist billing coordinators with complex and technical issues.
  • Support the Finance Manager with clearing queries and historical issues.
  • Provide training to billing coordinators on civil and criminal billing aspects.
  • Share knowledge and expertise within the team.
    • Time transfers
    • Rate changes
    • WIP and billing write-offs
    • File closures
    • Disbursement transfers or write-offs
    • Amend client records as needed

Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

  • Understanding of Legal Aid and public legal funding systems in both criminal and civil sectors.
  • ALCD or AAT qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Highly organized and efficient.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
