We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client who are social housing providers who are based in Surrey. We are seeking suitable candidates for two roles a Corporate Health and Safety Officer and a Health & Safety Advisor to join their teams for positions with immediate starts. The roles require a full UK Driving Licence and the ideal candidates will be members of IOSH and hold NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent level qualification.

Below is a summary of the roles:

  • To assist services in ensuring that the organisations statutory duties and responsibilities are met under the Health and Safety at Work etc. act 1974 and current fire safety legislation
  • To provide technical health and safety advice to council employees, officers, members, and other service customers
  • To assist the Health and Safety Officer maintain, review and update the Health and Safety Policies section on the intranet
  • To assist service management in conducting and regularly reviewing risk assessments and safe systems of work, in accordance with the corporate health and safety service plan
  • To assist the Health and Safety Officer to implement the audit programme of operations and related activities and follow up to ensure actions plans are complete
  • To carry out the work of the team within premises, in accordance with the corporate health and safety service plan
  • Occupational health and safety and fire safety inspections, initiatives, investigations into health and safety and fire safety complaint investigations
  • Accident investigations, provision of occupational health and safety and fire safety advice, infectious disease investigations (e.g. Legionnaires disease) and advising on health and safety aspects of development projects
  • Undertaking monitoring visits in respect of special activities and events held on or in council operated premises and advising of any actions required deputising for the Health and Safety Officer in attendance at safety committee meetings and Corporate Health & Safety Group
  • Liaise with staff representatives as necessary
  • To work under the general direction of the Health and Safety Officer and exercise all duties imposed by statute or delegated from time to time
  • To assist the Health and Safety Officer in the provision of core health and safety training to employees
