Our client, who is part of a Multi-National organisation which offers Freight Forwarding & Logistics solutions, with a focus on international shipping and intermodal services, is looking to recruit a Customs Supervisor to be based at offices in Colchester, Essex.

On Offer:

Main Purpose of the Role:

  • The activity focuses on UK customs processes, covering both import and exports and compliance.
  • To increase profit within the department by supporting the ops & sales department within the company.
  • To manage all UK customs clearances requests, both import and export. To ensure that the company is compliant and act within our AEO accreditation.
  • Working closely with the teams to arrange and monitor both export and import shipments by sea, overland and air services, you will liaise with suppliers and partners to deliver a high level of service to our clients, so their expectations are met and where possible exceeded.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Customs Supervisor:

  • To develop and maintain relationships with client accounts.
  • To meet deadlines/requirements as per client requests.
  • Monitor supplier performance.
  • Good file management and attention to detail.
  • Prepare quotations in accordance with client’s request.
  • Assisting colleagues during staff absences / holidays including imports/exports
  • Encourage and implement "Best Practice" across the department.
  • Develop and maintain a commercial and "can do" attitude with all within the department and company.
  • To react promptly and proactively to client requests
  • Always provide excellent customer service
  • To ensure deadlines are kept by monitoring suppliers
  • Maintain files in accordance with procedure
  • To achieve operational standards
  • Ensure all shipments are costed and invoiced in accordance with company policy
  • Support senior management as and when required.
  • Ensure invoice queries are solved promptly.

To Be Considered:

  • An understanding of transport and legislative controls
  • Good mathematical skills
  • To be able to adapt, embrace and implement new IT systems and IT innovations as required.
  • Solid knowledge of customs clearances, CDS and compliance
  • Knowledge of ASM Sequoia (Would be a benefit)
