Science Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to join a special school in Brighton from September 2024. This role is ideal for a qualified teacher with a passion for supporting the learning of children with a variety of special educational needs (SEN), including SEMH, ADHD, and those who may be disengaged with education. The successful candidate will have recent experience teaching key stage 3 and key stage 4 GCSE Science curriculum.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons to key stage 3 and key stage 4 students.
  • Plan, prepare and mark work, ensuring alignment with the GCSE curriculum and SEN adaptations where necessary.
  • Provide a supportive and inclusive classroom environment to cater to the individual needs of students with SEMH, ADHD, and other SEN.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants to maximise student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Fulfil the full role of a Teacher, including attending parent evenings and participating in school events.
  • Maintain high standards of teaching and learning within the department.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Recent experience teaching the key stage 3 and key stage 4 GCSE Science curriculum.
  • A strong understanding of SEN, particularly SEMH and ADHD, and strategies to support these learners.
  • Ability to plan and deliver lessons that are engaging and accessible to students with varying needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, students, and parents.
