Purpose of Role:

This new role will have a substantial responsibility, overseeing the end-to-end finance operations, management account production & financial analysis.

Reporting directly to the Chair of the Group, the role involves a broad spectrum of operational responsibilities and requires a wide range of knowledge and experience. The Finance Manager will be a member of the senior management team and will have the opportunity to input into the long-term strategic planning for the growth and development of both divisions of the Group.

The role is tasked with overseeing the extensive variety of finance duties, including setting targets and supporting individual departments to create and maintain their budgets. Cash flow management and treasury optimisation is an important part of this role.

A commercial and proactive mindset will be required for this role in relation to tracking financial performance, processes, and controls to identify areas of improvement.

The person should be diligent, commercially minded and have a proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem solving. Additionally, the person should have a high degree of punctuality in relation to deadline management.

Financial Management

  • Oversee and manage day-to-day finances, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard the organisations assets.
  • Prepare, review, and present management accounts, budget reports, and financial analyses to the executive team and the board of trustees.
  • Monitor cash flow, investments, and expenditure, providing timely recommendations for enhancements or adjustments.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Collaborate with the Divisional heads to develop, monitor, and manage annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor actual financial performance against budgeted results, offering insights and recommendations to facilitate effective decision-making and improved financial outcomes.

Grants & Funding

  • Manage the financial aspects of grant applications, compliance, and reporting, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • Work closely with the fundraising team, providing financial information for grant proposals, donor reports, and fundraising campaigns

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, VAT and tax requirements.
  • Prepare and submit necessary financial reports to regulatory bodies, donors, and stakeholders.

Audit & Risk Management

  • Coordinate annual financial audits, liaising with external auditors and ensuring timely and accurate completion of audit processes.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing strategies to protect the organisation's financial integrity.
