THE ROLE

We are looking for someone to join our team as a Finops Manager. Reporting into our Financial Controller, you will be partnering with teams throughout our business to ensure efficient and effective financial operations management, which ultimately services 3,000 couriers across the country and who deliver 30,000 parcels a week for over 14,000 customers.

Things move quickly, but everyone is very friendly and will help you learn the ropes. We like to promote internally so there will be lots of scope for you to grow within the finance team as the business scales further, both locally and internationally.

While fully remote, we will be prioritising candidates who are based in the UK. There will be the occasional requirement to meet f2f with your manager and our outsourced bookkeeping team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing a keen understanding of the Gophr Business

Your first 90 days will be spent ensuring you get an intimate understanding of Gophr’s financial operations, financial control matters and reporting environment.

* Reporting into the Finance Controller and providing support

*Ensure weekly Customer invoicing has been performed with no errors

*Invoice weekly Couriers through automated system

*Prepare weekly Supplier and Courier payment runs

*Credit control - Reconcile monthly and weekly receipts on our back office

*Supporting our financial controller with credit control, ensuring overdue debt is kept within acceptable levels.

*Accruals and Prepayments and eventually compiling Management Accounts

*Working closely with our outsourced bookkeeper

*Review current processes and recommend improvements

*Supporting our financial controller in the management of the full accounts payable function, ensuring such, includes the relevant controls, is automated as much as possible, and is fit for purpose.

Continuous improvement

We’re hoping that you are someone with a keen understanding and appreciation of tech and automation, and a big part of your role will be identifying opportunities to leverage technology to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of both finops and financial control.

This is a finance role, so needless to say we’re looking for someone who will be proactive in ensuring costs are controlled and supported by the appropriate governance and revenue optimisation opportunities are top of mind.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Newly / Part Qualified ACA/ CIMA/ACCA

  • Interest in technology and automation

  • A problem solver who enjoys making the complex simple

  • An independent thinker and worker who has the confidence to hit the ground running, and make suggestions on an ongoing basis

  • Someone who is a self-starter and who wants to grow their finance career with a company as it scales. Learning from the ground up, there is nothing stopping your progression.

  • Effective communicator

  • Attention to detail

  • Strong excel skills

  • Knowledge of Xero is desirable but not obligatory

  • Some commercial experience (preferably in a fast paced environment) is desirable but not obligatory
