• Location: Colnbrook Cargo Centre, Colnbrook, Slough, SL3 0NW

• Days of Work: Monday - Friday/Tuesday - Saturday

• Hours of Work: Various 9 hour shifts available

Job Description

Our Fleet & Compliance Manager is looking for an experienced and dedicated HGV Technician.

The successful HGV Technician will be responsible for working as part of a team to repair and maintain the company’s fleet of HGV and LGVs. You will become an integral part of the team as these vehicles are the heartbeat of the business. The successful candidate will deliver a seamless, proactive service.

You will be responsible for:

  • Using your knowledge and understanding to perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshot mechanical issues
  • Conduct inspections, identify potential problems, resolve problems
  • Repair or replace faulty components and parts
  • Keeping accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines
  • Fostering a first-rate working relationship with the Workshop Manager and Transport Manager, in order to keep the fleet running and the business moving.
  • Providing out of hours assistance when required.

Essential MUST have Skills and Experience:

  • City & Guilds Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • The necessary skills to efficiently plan maintenance and inspections
  • MOT preparation experience
  • Modern mechanical and electrical diagnostics and fault-finding
  • Accurate and timely defect reporting

Desirable Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • The ability to remain calm and courteous in all situations, with very good communication skills
  • A Class 1 Licence is desirable

You'll need a flexible outlook, a friendly personality, and the desire to deliver a high quality service.
