Job Description:

MPJ Recruitment are proud to be working with a well-established multi-discipline Solicitor based in South Manchester, who are currently looking for an experienced Housing Disrepair Fee Earner to join their team.

This is an incredible opportunity for somebody with strong experience working within Housing Disrepair who is used to handling their own caseload and is driven, ambitious and determined.


Responsibilities:

  • Assess information, photos, and video of disrepair from Tenants and whether it is likely to equate to £1k or more of disrepair
  • Compile Protocol complaint Letters of Claim
  • Assess disclosure documents
  • Instruct Expert Surveyors and analyse their reports
  • Draft correspondence to Clients, Landlords and Landlord’s Legal Representatives
  • Compile Pre-Action Disclosure Applications
  • Value claims for General Damages and assess claims and evidence for Special Damages
  • Answer client queries and give relevant updates and advice and manage client expectations
  • Draft Court Proceedings including Claim Forms and Particulars of Claim
  • Engage in negotiations
  • Instruct and liaise with Counsel
  • Attend and carry out advocacy at relatively simple hearings

About You:

  • Litigation experience in terms of Housing Disrepair
  • Excellent communication skills and strong telephony manner
  • Knowledge of caselaw
  • Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work efficiently within a team and on your own
