Production Engineer (Electronics)

Job Location: Wimborne, Dorset

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £32,500 - £40,000 per annum (Salary depending on experience)

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.30pm & Friday 8am - 1pm

A global manufacturer in Wimborne who build special purpose equipment for the aerospace industry are looking to recruit a Production Engineer to join their team.

The company has always had an excellent reputation within the industry with them growing year on year. Due to winning additional business and new contracts, they are having to add to their team.

This period and the coming years ahead are exciting times for the company, so much so they are looking for talented Production Engineers to join them to help them with the demand for their products.

This is a great opportunity to work on leading projects within the aerospace industry.

Your role will see you develop an operational plan for manufacturing activities of the team. You will look at how if any, improvements can be made in products and manufacturing process, you will help implement design changes and enhance processes and procedures whilst applying a lean methodology.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Liaising and supporting production to ensure new products are designed for manufacture, assembly and test
  • Defining manufacturing processes (assembly/test/inspection) and developing work instructions for the manufacturing teams
  • Ensuring safe working practices are embedded in all aspects of the role.
  • Defining and developing test fixtures and tools to aid and simplify production processes.
  • Seeking opportunities for improvement in product quality, efficiency of manufacture and cost reduction.
  • Managing new product introduction to the factory.
  • Providing support to purchasing and production teams
  • Managing change to products
  • Assisting the QA team with quality investigations
  • Documenting and keeping accurate records of ongoing projects.
  • Supporting production departments to resolve technical issues and challenges.

We also ask that you have the following key capabilities/knowledge:

  • Formal electronics qualifications is preferred but qualified by experience will also be accepted
  • Ability to read and interpret electronics drawings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office
  • Experience with CAD packages
  • A helpful can-do attitude
  • LEAN manufacturing experience desirable.
