SEN Teacher - Bexley

We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join the team in an all-through SEN school catering for autism and moderate learning needs based in Bexley. The school is committed to nurturing the academic and personal growth of our pupils.

The Role:

As an SEN Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, individualized education plans tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. You will work closely with a team of dedicated professionals to create a supportive and engaging learning environment. This position is initially temporary, lasting until the end of the current academic year, with the possibility of extension into the next academic year based on performance and school needs.

The class you will be teaching is no larger than 8 pupils, most who have complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess effective lessons that cater to the individual needs of pupils with complex SEN.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCO and other specialists.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment where all pupils can thrive.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students and promote learning.
  • Monitor and track pupil progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other support staff to ensure holistic care and education for pupils.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, and carers, ensuring clear communication and support.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with pupils with complex SEN.
  • Strong understanding of SEN teaching strategies and interventions.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet a range of abilities and needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
