Our client is a dynamic and rapidly growing business, market leaders in several categories supplying UK High Street retailers, Major Supermarkets and Online retailers. Their hard work and success has been reflected in being a recent winner of the North West Family Business awards. They currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Buyer to join their buying team.
As Senior Buyer, you will report into the Head of Product, and have responsibility for managing a well established supply base across a range of raw materials as well as finished retail-ready products. Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Sourcing and negotiating prices and volumes with suppliers.
- Strategically planning and developing a supply base to reflect global geo-political rik and mitigate risks affecting product availability and lead times.
- Visiting suppliers predominantly in the Far East as and when required.
- Maintaining control of the supply base and ensure compliance with all audit standards with the support of a separate compliance team.
- Working closely with the NPD team to source and develop new products in line with seasonal selection calendars.
- Managing the cost and availability of shipping containers.
- Demand planning of raw materials into the business.
- Managing a small team of purchasing administrators.
To be considered for this exciting and rare opportunity in the market, you must have sound experience of international buying & trading, as well as direct negotiating with overseas factories & international shipping. Expertise in leading and managing a small team is crucial, as is sourcing and onboarding new suppliers. Your ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced and pressurised environment is key. Additional requirements are:
- You will have operated at a senior level in a business and are adept at sharing information with the wider organisation with professionalism.
- Fantastic problem-solving and organisational skills.
- A background in textiles or commodities would be a bonus!
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a desire to get the best possible solution for the business.
- Driving licence - occasional requirement to travel to the other offices.
