Systems Accountant

Job Summary:

The Systems Accountant will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company's financial systems, ensuring they meet the needs of the finance department and other stakeholders. This role requires a blend of accounting expertise and technical skills to support and enhance the financial systems infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Systems Management:

• Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of financial systems (e.g., ERP, accounting software).
• Ensure the financial systems are configured to meet the business requirements and comply with accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
• Manage system upgrades, patches, and enhancements to maintain optimal performance and functionality.

System Integration and Optimisation:

• Work closely with IT and other departments to integrate financial systems with other business applications.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the financial systems.
• Develop and implement best practices for system use and data management.

User Support and Training:

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for financial system users.
• Conduct training sessions and create documentation for end-users to ensure effective use of the systems.
• Act as the primary point of contact for system-related queries and issues.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

• Design and develop financial reports and dashboards to support decision-making.
• Ensure data accuracy and consistency across all financial reports.
• Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

Compliance and Security:

• Ensure financial systems comply with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Implement and monitor security protocols to protect financial data.
• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary system documentation and data.

Project Management:

• Lead or participate in financial systems projects, including new implementations, upgrades, and migrations.
• Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, CMA) or equivalent certification is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a systems accounting role.
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and financial software.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
• Proficiency in financial systems and technology, with a strong aptitude for learning new software.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
