Tenancy and Support Services Team Leader (Temporary to Fixed Term Contract)

We are seeking a Tenancy and Support Services Team Leader for our local client based in central Southend.  You will assist the Tenancy and Support Services Manager to provide operational leadership and guide the team to deliver an excellent, customer focused housing management and support service for residents.

Responsibilities:

The Tenancy and Support Services Team Leader will assist the Tenancy and Support Services Manager carry out the following:-

  • Take responsibility for providing advice and resolving queries relating to low level ASB, rent collection, tenancy management and support services from Tenancy and Support Officers and Assistants
  • Day to day tenancy management of general needs, sheltered and temporary accommodation including ensuring the provision of the out of hours emergency accommodation service
  • Day to day provision of support services for vulnerable residents identified through risk assessments, staff referrals and customer contact
  • Ensuring that all health and safety standards are maintained 
  • Monitoring and recording sickness absences and update records accordingly
  • Attend seminars and conferences as required by the Tenancy and Support Services Manager
  • Provide out of hours cover as required

The Tenancy and Support Services Team Leader will assist their manager to ensure the tenancy and support services team follow processes and procedures and meet required service standards.

This role is required to:

  • Support and assist the Tenancy and Support Services Manager
  • Ensure that staff are working to clear, quality standards
  • Day to day supervision of tenancy and support services assistants
  • Supervise staff to ensure that they deliver on performance plans and targets
  • Review progress by Tenancy Officers with low level ASB cases
  • Organise the emergency out of hours temporary accommodation rota
  • Assist the Tenancy and Support Services Manager with all Councillor, MP, Ombudsman enquiries and complaints
  • Support the team to develop strong and robust working relationships
  • Monitor performance of team’s activities to ensure that tenants comply with their Conditions of Tenancy and Licence Agreements in line with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that staff are aware of procedures to deal with range of tenancy and temporary accommodation management and support services property and estate inspections, health and safety audits, supporting and vulnerable residents
  • Ensure the rights of tenants are respected and obligations enforced
  • Work in full partnership with the Specialist Income Management Team
  • Work in full partnership with the Housing Community Safety Team
  • Work in full partnership with the Housing Maintenance Team
  • Work in full partnership with Housing Solutions and other teams
  • Attend Case Conferences, Court and evictions as necessary
  • Attend residents’ meetings including those out of hours
  • Proactively support the Tenancy and Support Services Manager
  • Use and operation of the in-house computer systems as required
  • Follow and promote equal opportunities policy
  • Follow and promote safeguarding policies
  • Follow and promote data protection policies
  • Operate in line with Hub, Home, Roam’ model including visiting residents in their homes.
  • Carry out any other duties within the scope of the post, as directed by the Tenancy and Support Services Manager, the Housing Services Manager or member of the EMT.

Qualities & Knowledge required:

  • Working knowledge of Housing Law/Welfare Benefits
  • Up to date knowledge of best practice within a tenancy management service.
  • Full driving licence, Daily Use of a car and Business User Insurance or able to get around the borough
  • Able to attend evening and weekend meetings
  • Able to work late night or early mornings.
  • Committed to customer care
  • Able to cope under pressure
  • An enhanced DBS disclosure

Salary: up to £33,223 PA

Hours: Monday – Friday 37.5 hours - Hybrid working 1-2 days in the office
